Murku layout

Page history last edited by vedrepublic@... 15 years ago

We describe the latest version of the Murku layout  here.

Note: An object becomes transparent when it is selected, ie when it is clicked on.

  FUNCTIONALITY
1 Manual positioning widget with color 'swatch'. Once a graphics element or a text handle is placed in the comics capture area, it can be manually moved using the positioning widget. The triangles when clicked move the selected object larger steps and the circles when clicked move them by small steps.
2 The miscellaneous section is a collection of graphics primitives to create arrow and such. This is work in progress and we will be adding more to this library.  Once a graphics element is selected, you can click on the previous or next buttons from (10) to shuffle though various graphics primitives that the selected object contains. Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category.
3 The sound effects section collects various sound effects that you may use for your comics frame. Again use the previous and next button when a particular sound effects object is selected to see what other sound effects are available. Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category.
4 The banners section collects various banners that you may use for your comics frame. Again use the previous and next button when a particular banner object is selected to see what other banners are available. Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category.
5 The 'thought bubbles' section collects various 'thought bubbles' that you may use for your comics frame. Again use the previous and next button when a particular banner object is selected to see what other options are available.  Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category.
6 The 'chat bubbles' section collects various 'chat bubbles' that you may use for your comics frame. Again use the previous and next button when a particular banner object is selected to see what other options are available.  Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category.
7 The 'line length' section collects various line length buttons that you may click to set the length of a selected text handle.
8 The green bars are the text handles. Click to select and click somewhere within the screen capture area to position it. You will notice that this process will also unselect it and you will need to select the text handle again before you are able to do anything to it e.g. repositioning it manually using (1). To display text above the text handle, make sure it is selected  and send whatever text you want to send to it by typing the text in the chat textbox. Make sure you prefix the text with /2 because the bars are listening on channel 2.
9 The 'show' and 'hide' text handles are self explanatory. They show/hide select text handles. 'Delete text' deletes text from the selected text handle. 'Enter text' simply provides a help message about how to enter text.
10

The Graphics handlers section collect a set of buttons that do/undo operations on selected graphics objects e.g. a chat bubble/ a sound effects. It is best to learn by finding out what each button does. Previous and next buttons allow you to choose the graphics option for a particular object (ie you can choose a specific graphics element from a library described here. we are updating the library as soon as we can.

The 'Reset All button' when clicked brings all elements of the HUD back to their starting states. The 'Reset selected' button when clicked after any element is selected, graphics or text, will bring that element back to its original state. The 'Unselect' button is for unselecting anything that is currently selected. You can also unselect anobject by clicking on it if it is already selected.

The green buttons provide the following functionalities: rotation, scaling (vertically) (horizontally) (vertically & horizontally), texture flippling (vertical and horizontal). The 'Jump to Graphics' button is a quick way to access a particular graphics without having to browse through the whole set of possibilities. Clicking this button displays the text instruction you need to pick the graphics you require. For e.g. if after clicking the library icon for a given section, visiting the page and identifying the index of the element you need, say 14, then typing /1 t 14, will reveal the texture with index 14.

11 This is a 'behavior palette'. You are able to click on the tabs to open up various collections of gestures/animations/poses. Clicking on the menu item will trigger the appropriate gesture/animation/pose.
12

'Show/hide HUDs displays the help message on how to hide and show the HUD. The 'detach all' button when clicked allows all elements of the HUD to be detached in one go.

'Previous web picture' and 'Next web picture' only works if you are using the displayBoard object. Clicking on these buttons will allow access to online pictures pointed to by urls entered in the 'setofurls' notecard in the displayBoard object.

13 If you are interested in changing the border of the comics frame, you can do so by clicking on the previous or next border buttons. The next two buttons are simple ways to select and unselect everything (I am asking myself if these functionalities are really needed). Clicking on the library icon will load a page in your internet browser that describes the set of graphics element in this category. Clicking on the 'Jump to Border' button displays the steps to follow if you want to pick a border straight away without having to browse through the whole set. For e.g. if after looking at the web page (obtained by clicking on the library icon for this section) you decide to pick border  with index 3, you need to type /1 b 3 followed by enter in the chat textbox to reveal the said border. The first button with the 'white square on black background' will display the default border (white border).
14 This is really just a guide (It is OPTIONAL). Throw it away if you do not need it. I use it to balance the size of my frames with the text size as displayed on my computer. You can change its size by right clicking it and changing the size of the attachment.
